As our anticipation level peaked at an all-time high for our Miracle Seed Sundays held on 19, 26 August and 2 September 2012, our unsung heroes worked behind the scenes to ensure the security and accountability of the miracle seed collection.
We doubled up on our security measures by increasing the number of security personnel, which included armed security officers across all service venues. This was on top of our usual monitoring of the service venues with surveillance cameras.
Processes were also put in place for clear accountability. After the collection, necessary arrangements were made to ensure that the collection boxes were kept in full view of at least three persons — a volunteer server or leader, a full-time staff and an armed professional security personnel — at all times.
Movements of the collection boxes were closely guarded. |
The counting and recording of all cash and non-cheque gifts was done centrally in a counting room monitored by surveillance cameras. Access to this room was held in stringent control by our security team, restricted only to a selected group of servers, staff and leaders.
Our auditors from RSM Chio Lim were also on site on all three Sundays to observe the Miracle Seed Sunday operations. Their presence for this special collection, together with other routine visits to our Sunday services, form part of the annual statutory audit.
While there are at least five auditors in attendance, at least two of them are present in the counting room to witness the cash counting and recording process.
For added security, every person in the counting room, including the auditors, was required to wear a specially designed pocketless apron. This measure is part of our usual Sunday counting operations.
Clad in pocketless aprons, the team sorts
and counts the givings in a monitored room.

Movements of money between all our venues were handled by teams comprising finance staff, security servers and an armed security personnel. The delivery of the total collection to the bank was handled by armed cash-in-transit specialists from AETOS and Certis Cisco.
Thank you for sowing into our new service venue at The Star Performing Arts Centre. Because your miracle seed is important to you, it is also important to us. Most of all, it is precious to God.
