God Gave Career A New Lease Of Life
I lost my job as a general manager cum director of 15 years a few years ago. I tried looking for a job but I could not find a suitable one. At that time, my daughter was studying in Australia and my son was starting his first year of education in NUS. My wife’s income alone was not enough to support our family. So we sold most of my assets and downgraded our home.
My daughter, who is serving at the Hillsong Church in Sydney, and my son who is from New Creation Church, always asked me to attend church. But I refused. I struggled to get back on my feet by my own efforts but failed each time. I ended up working as a delivery driver and was too ashamed to even meet my friends. Frustrated with what was happening, I decided to listen to my children and attended New Creation for the first time in July 2009.
As I attended the services, I began to learn many things about our Lord from Pastor Prince. I learnt to not trust my own self-effort, but to trust in the Lord and to rest in the finished work of Christ. I know that I am not in a religion but I am in a personal relationship with Jesus. I know that Jesus’ sacrifice, which has crowned me with glory and honour, meant that I did not have to be ashamed of my job as a delivery driver.
I asked God for wisdom and prayed for qarah every day. I knew deep down that God has heard my prayers. Then in June 2010, I met a friend and he informed me of an opening in a large public listed organisation. I asked God if it was a divine arrangement and I felt prompted by the Holy Spirit to send in my résumé. Even though I am almost 60 years old, I believed that it did not matter. God will provide for me.
I was then called for an interview and was subsequently offered the job. I have been given a big room and the management is very pleased with my work. Praise God! Thank you, Pastor Prince, for revealing to me how great my God is and for preaching the gospel of grace so radically!
