Pastor Mark was in Medan, Indonesia, from 3 to 4 May 2008. He was there on invitation by Pastor Johan Tjiunardi, senior pastor of Gereja Bethel Indonesia (GBI) Church, to be a guest speaker at one of their Sunday services.
Pastor Mark preached in Hokkien at GBI Church’s Hokkien and Mandarin combined service with simultaneous interpretation into Bahasa Indonesia by an interpreter. About 280 people received the Word and there were seven salvations at the end of the service.
From 20 to 25 April 2008, five New Creation Church staff and a group of 19 students from Arrow’s SMU/SIM/PTE cluster were in Vietnam. The team was there to minister to the children and staff of an orphanage, and to impact youths and Bible school students with the gospel of grace.
At the orphanage, the team ministered to some 70 children who have cerebral palsy (a condition that results in physical and mental disabilities). Apart from organising simple activities for the children and praying over them, the team also helped to clean up the orphanage and brighten the children’s rest and play areas with a series of wall murals. There were two salvations and one of the children received the gift of tongues. In addition, the orphanage’s 18 full-time and part-time staff members were blessed with love gifts.
On the evening of 24 April 2008, the team attended a youth service. There, the gospel of grace was shared with some 120 youths and Bible school students.
Pastor Mark and a team from our Hokkien•Mandarin Ministry were in Palembang, a city in South Sumatra, Indonesia, from 4 to 9 March 2008. He was invited by CSJA Maranatha Church to conduct a leadership training session and to teach at a healing session. On top of the two teaching sessions, Pastor Mark also preached at an evangelistic dinner, a youth meeting and two rallies.
Pastor Mark’s teaching sessions blessed about 85 church leaders and members. About 300 people attended the evangelistic dinner, and some 100 youths were at the youth meeting.
Between 100 and 200 people attended each of the two rallies held at Hotel Royal Asia on 6 and 7 March 2008. The last rally carried such a strong healing anointing that many of the people who came forward for prayer received instantaneous healing.
From 14 to 20 February 2008, Pastor Soo Teck and a group of 10 volunteers from our church were in China. There, they ministered to the local congregation and distributed love gifts to needy students.
Pastor Soo Teck and Raymond Cheow, a care group leader from our Chinese Ministry, were guest speakers at two Sunday services. About 260 people were impacted by their messages.
The group visited needy families in several locations to distribute love gifts under the Sponsor A Student programme. On the final leg of their mission, the group visited two primary schools and a church. In total, about 115 students benefited from the programme.
