The Integrated Hub at one-north has been officially named The Star Performing Arts Centre!

Prior to 1999, our church services were held at various locations across Singapore. In 1999, after 16 years, we found our permanent home at the Rock Auditorium at Suntec City Mall. The auditorium is managed by our business entity, Rock Productions Pte Ltd. For more information about Rock Productions, you may refer to our fact sheet on the church’s business entities.

After rooting ourselves at the Rock, the size of our congregation began increasing exponentially. Our average Sunday attendance leapt from 3,800 in 1999 to 12,900 in 2006, and the number of services that we held each Sunday multiplied from two to four, motivating us to search for a larger venue to accommodate our growing church.

On 11 May 2007, following thorough research and groundwork, Rock Productions submitted a proposal to JTC Corporation to build, lease and operate an integrated civic, cultural, retail and entertainment hub at one-north, a new development situated in the Buona Vista locale of Western Singapore.

This submission was done in a special tender exercise known as an RFP, or Request For Proposal. In such tenders, besides looking at the price, the authorities also take the project’s design and concept into consideration.

On 7 September 2007, Rock Productions was awarded the tender for a 60-year lease to build, lease and operate the integrated hub at one-north, now formally known as The Star. Comprising two zones, The Star is slated for completion by the second half of 2012.

The Star’s civic and cultural zone – now known as The Star Performing Arts Centre – is owned by Rock Productions. Rock Productions, or a separate venue management entity with specialist expertise, could undertake the management of The Star Performing Arts Centre.

The Star’s retail and entertainment zone was sold to and will be managed by CapitaMalls Asia. This zone is officially named The Star Vista.

With New Creation Church as the anchor tenant at The Star Performing Arts Centre, churchgoers can look forward to exciting new facilities, such as a 5,000-seat state-of-the-art auditorium, multi-purpose hall, outdoor amphitheatre and special function room! Truly a world-class meeting venue for our Sunday services!

During the rest of the week, The Star Performing Arts Centre will play host to musicals, concerts, conferences, and arts and community events. For more information on The Star Performing Arts Centre, please visit www.thestar.sg.
