For the last two years, I had been heavily oppressed in a company which was overly political. On top of that, they owed me four months of commission. Every day, I would drag my feet to work for fear that I could not survive if I were to leave the company because of my educational level and age. I felt as though I was going into depression. One day, I decided to get out of that place.
A few months back, I started sending out résumés, but there were no responses. Feeling sad, I prayed to God and asked Him to open a door for me and give me another job if the company I was in wasn’t where I should be. I also asked God to promote me, and give me a better working environment and salary package.
Shortly after that, a human resources (HR) executive from a company approached me and told me that they were looking for a sales executive. As I was desperate to get out of the company I was in, I told her that I was keen.
So she sent me the job description, and I saw the first line read “Bachelor’s Degree Holder”. I sighed as my highest education level is only GCE O Levels. However, I was still asked to send my résumé over.
Two days later, I got a call from the company asking me to go for an interview, and the position I was interviewing for was Sales Manager.
Though puzzled, I prayed for God’s unmerited favour and guidance on what to say. My care group leader and members also prayed for me.
When I went for the interview, I really liked the company’s structure and system, and wanted to get the job badly.
But after the 2nd round of interview, I felt that I didn’t perform well enough and was very disappointed with myself. I also started to fear when I was told that the managing director would be interviewing other candidates.
A week passed with no news, and I grew depressed. But I continued to pray for God’s unmerited favour every day.
I also boldly declared, “Heavenly Father, I believe and trust that You have opened this door for me, and no man can shut it. Jesus has done a perfect work at the cross and He has paid the full price for me to receive this job. This job is mine and I claim it in Jesus’ name. Amen.”
Another week went by and I received a message from the HR executive saying that they would update me of the outcome as soon as they were done seeing other candidates.
I felt relieved that there was still hope. In my heart, I had a positive feeling that God was doing something for me.
In the following week, the HR executive asked me for names to conduct reference checks, one of which must be an ex-employer. So I asked God for favour with my ex-boss whom I had not contacted for years. And when I texted him to be a reference as a favour to me, he replied saying that he was more than willing to do so.
A few days later, I received a call from the HR executive saying that they were offering me the position of a senior sales manager and it was a regional role!
I was in shock for a few seconds because I had started off interviewing for a sales executive position and now, they were offering me a senior sales manager post with a better remuneration package.
Not only did God restore to me what I had lost, He answered my prayers for a promotion, a higher package and a better working environment. Hallelujah!
