Help For The Nations During COVID-19 Pandemic
The plight of the rural and marginalized communities in developing countries is further exacerbated by the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) pandemic. With the help of our outreach partners on the ground, we continue to provide practical help to these communities.
Food For The Jobless And The Underprivileged In Cambodia
As work ceased and jobs dried up in Cambodia due to the pandemic, many villagers in Sikhanoukville struggle to put food on their tables. To help tide them through this difficult period, we partnered with a local organisation to give out food rations to some 50 affected families.
We also continue to support the local feeding programme for underprivileged children living in the slums of Cambodia where they are hard hit by food shortages. Joining hands with our partner in Cambodia, we are able to increase the reach of our feeding programme to 600 children every week during this season. It is our joy to see these children being nourished by regular meals.
Supporting Education In Rural Indonesia
With schools closed due to the current pandemic and the switch to online learning, many low-income families in rural areas of Indonesia are unable to afford online learning facilities for their children.
As such, our church collaborated with Hope Village, a local charity, to distribute learning packs to over 100 students from these areas. We also gave towards the renovation of the village high school to provide a safe and more conducive learning environment for its students when school reopens!
Rice Giving Programme In Tondo Slums
The COVID-19 lockdown in Manila, the Philippines, has severely impacted the poor living in the slums of Tondo where many families go without food. Working with our partner there, we continue to serve this community through our rice giving programme which began in 2016 and we have now increased our distribution to help feed 400 families every week.
Food For The Poor In India
In this COVID-19 pandemic, our hearts go out to the rural poor in India who are struggling for their livelihoods. Together with a local church, we distributed food rations to over 300 needy families and provided some 5,000 meals for the hungry.
Free Medical Care
Over the last few years, our church has been supporting the running of the Cambodia Care Medical Clinic that offers free treatment to the villagers who are unable to afford or access medical care. With the necessary precautionary measures in place, the clinic remains available to the villagers.
Provision Of Food And Hygiene Items
In Cambodia, we have also given out care packs containing dried food rations and hygiene items to help some 130 impoverished families tide through this difficult period.
In addition, we continue to support the feeding programmes we have in the Philippines, Cambodia and Myanmar to provide nutritious meals for children living in the slums. Read more about our feeding programmes here.
