Marriage Restored
My husband and I had been married for five years when, around our third year of marriage, our relationship began to fall apart. Eventually, we reached breaking point and agreed to give our marriage one final chance. If nothing changed, we would get divorced.
Some time later, a dear friend from New Creation Church invited me to her home for a Christmas gathering. I experienced such genuine love and kindness from her and her friends, and I was inspired by the way she and her husband cared for one another. It gave me a beautiful picture of what a Christ-centred marriage could look like.
One day, my friend said something that stayed with me: "Jesus can revive anything, including marriages." Those words remained in my heart throughout the year. She also shared how her family had begun praying together and praying for one another, which inspired me to do the same with my husband.
One evening, I asked my husband if we could say grace before dinner. Although he wasn't a Christian, he readily agreed. Later, I asked if we could pray for one another by speaking aloud what we wanted God to do in each other's lives. It felt awkward and unfamiliar, and our prayers were hesitant and clumsy, but we chose to pray anyway. Those simple prayers became the beginning of God's miraculous work in our marriage.
Over the following months, our relationship gradually began to change. There was more peace, greater understanding, and less conflict. Then came one of the greatest miracles. One Sunday, my husband agreed to come to church with me for the very first time. After the service, he thanked me for bringing him and said that no one had ever invited him to church before.
The greatest miracle came on Sunday, 17 May 2026. Pastor Prince was preaching that morning, and at the end of the service, my husband responded to the altar call and prayed to receive Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour. Watching my husband receive Christ was one of the happiest moments of my life.
Today, our marriage is not perfect, but it has been transformed. Day by day, God is shaping us to become more like Christ and to walk in the fullness of His promises for our marriage. Jesus is now at the centre of our relationship. We have more peace, more love, more forgiveness, and more grace for one another. Jesus didn't just save our marriage—He saved both of us.
