Sharing Good News Beyond The Language Barrier

Building on the foundation that was laid by our Outreach teams over the past few years, our church was back in Chang Rai, Thailand in late 2016. This time round, some 160 participants comprising of Secondary 3 students, leaders and adult volunteers from our youth group DARE, visited Ban Mea Aeb village between 21 and 25 November, and Pai Lai Luang village from 28 November to 2 December.

During the trips, our youths stepped up to plan and run the programmes themselves, with guidance from their leaders. In spite of the language barrier, they conducted classroom lessons for students at the village schools, shared the gospel with the villagers during home visits, organised fun-filled carnivals and telematches to engage with the school children.

Sumiko shared her experience ministering to the children in Ban Mea Aeb School. “During the first lesson, we decided to sing the song O Daddy God in Thai. Initially, we were quite nervous but slowly, the presence of God filled the place. Though there was a language barrier, we prayed in the Spirit and the children started crying. We were later told that the children felt a sense of love in their hearts and we knew it was Jesus.”

On the mission trip, our youths also hosted two evangelistic nights to share the gospel with the villagers and minister healing to the sick.

At Ban Mea Aeb, a lady was healed from numbness in her hands and legs, and there were also reports of people who were set free from chronic headaches and knee pains. Indeed, our Lord Jesus is the Healer!

All in all, our leaders and volunteers reached out to more than 1,500 precious people, and 584 of them gave their lives to the Lord Jesus Christ. Hallelujah!
